W/ Sunroof (MSRP $22,625), the SE (MSRP $25,225), and the SEL (MSRP $27,425). Each of these trim levels have their own standard and optional features which include an Advanced 6.5" touchscreen sound system, VW Car-Net® App-Connect™ for smartphones, driver assistance systems, panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth, heated seats, keyless entry, and many more.

Engine / Transmission/ Suspension

There is one engine type for the 2016 Volkswagen Golf. That is a 1.8L, inline four cylinder, 16V, turbocharged and intercooled, DI. The turbocharged engines are not only powerful, but they are also fuel efficient to keep you going longer between trips to the gas station.

Various trim levels of the 2016 Volkswagen Golf can come with either a manual or an automatic transmission. The manual is a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The automatic is a 6-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and Sport Mode – making the drive even sportier!

The suspension in the 2016 Volkswagen Golf is the same throughout all of the trim levels. The front is a strut-type with lower control arms, coil springs, telescopic dampers, 22-mm-diameter anti-roll bar. The rear suspension is a multilink with coil springs, telescopic dampers, 19-mm-diameter anti-roll bar. Both of these suspension types are especially good with the sportiness of the Golf.

Safety

The 2016 Volkswagen Golf is chock full of safety features. Volkswagen likes to say “just because you don’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t there”. There is a long list of safety features standard or optional on the 2016 VW Golf.  This list includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, and Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist).
