Get Ready For a More Efficient Volkswagen Jetta

Fuel Efficient 2019 Volkswagen Jetta sedan

It is hard to believe but Volkswagen has managed to make the 2019 VW Jetta even more efficient than the already impressive 2018 VW Jetta!  It will have an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 30 mpg city and 40 mpg highway!  VW made a dedicated effort during the vehicle development process to create a more efficient seventh generation Jetta.

Starting with the exterior, it is designed to reduce aerodynamic drag.  Every area of the exterior was analyzed for ways to reduce drag while still providing the style you expect from VW.  The front grille features shutters that close at speeds when there is less need for airflow to the engine.

The 1.4-liter TSI engine provides excellent fuel efficiency thanks to innovative features.  That includes a clutch-driven air conditioner and efficient generator.  The engine also features stop/start technology so the engine is shut off when appropriate.  This is especially helpful for fuel efficiency in stop-and-go traffic.  This can be paired with the new 8-speed automatic transmission that provides more efficiency at high speeds due to a wider band of drive ratios.

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta also comes with slightly larger tires than previous Jetta models.  These reduce resistance by 25%.  Don't worry, they don't sacrifice ride comfort or handling.
