Tips for a Fun and Safe Road Trip With Your Pet

Travel Tips With Pets Road Trip

Spring break is right around the corner so it is a perfect time to prepare for a road trip with your pet. Fun and safe travel with your pet can be a daunting task! Not all pets are excellent travelers;  let your pet's temperament guide your decision to take it along on your travels!

Traveling by car is likely the easiest option with your pet. Here are some good tips to follow when traveling with pets:

* Don’t let your pets roam around in the car
* For their safety, pets should always be in a carrier or restrained
* Keep your pet's head inside of the vehicle
* Stop for plenty of rest stops;  your pet will need to stretch its legs!
* Don’t leave your pet alone in the car.  Pack a picnic lunch to eat long the way so you can stop at a park or rest area and let your pet play while you eat lunch.  This is a better option than stopping at a restaurant and leaving your pet in the car.
* Pack a pet-friendly travel kit including food, a bowl, bottled water, leash, first-aid essentials, and a favorite toy or pillow
