2019 VW Jetta Earns 5-Star Overall Safety Rating
The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta adds to several other VW models in earning the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) 5-star overall safety rating. The NHTSA evaluates new vehicles based on front, side, and rollover crash test ratings and provides an easy star rating for the vehicle's results. Five stars denotes the best a vehicle can be.
The Jetta offers an impressive selection of passive and active safety systems, including six airbags standard. Also standard on the Jetta is the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System. This system automatically applies the brakes if a collision is detected by the airbag sensors. This allows the vehicle to reduce the potential of additional damage caused by residual kinetic energy. The VW Jetta also offers vehicle buyers a variety of driver-assistance features to choose from. That includes Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Other VW models also receiving the 5-star overall safety rating include the Atlas, Golf family (except e-Golf), and the Passat. Other Volkswagen models have not yet been rated by the NHTSA.
